Item Description
A wonderful hand-carved antique alabaster plafonnier bowl light by Dernier & Hamlyn. c.1920
Formed in warm, veined stone that gives a soft, atmospheric glow when lit. The bowl is suspended from the original three handmade metal chains, each link individually worked and showing an attractive aged surface. The mounts are sculptural winged masks - detailed, expressive castings that anchor the chains and add a strong classical presence to the piece. The alabaster has a gentle dish profile with natural mineral veining that deepens in tone when illuminated.
A beautifully refined and characterful example of Dernier & Hamlyn’s bespoke work - elegant, sculptural and full of period charm.
