Item Description
The wondrous art studio sculptors modelling easel or stand, constructed in steel with a white painted ground and having a tripod base to splayed legs and a lower shelf for storage, to a revolving pine top, showing an abundance of colour and character as a myriad of paint flecks, being untouched from its heavy use by an artist throughout the early to middle section of the twentieth century.
She remains in a good untouched and original state and has been simply waxed to protect her idiosyncrasies and fabulous patina. The stand is adjustable, allowing the artist to raise or lower the working surface to a comfortable height whilst the top of the stand is designed to rotate, which enables the sculptor to easily access all sides of their piece without having to move around it. It could now be used for displaying sculpture of which could be heavy in weight.
This stand would have been part of the daily life of the artist for decades and as such it proves a veritable tableau of creative activity, making for a unique sculptural piece, now a work of art in itself.
