Item Description
1950s Kerstin Horlin-Holmquist Paradiset sofa. Newly re-upholstered.
This very stylish sofa was designed by her in about 1958 for NK of Stockholm and produced into the 1960s. This two / three seat sofa has a lovely overall curved shape, attractive and fluid. The beech legs have a nice curve too.
Nordisk Kompaniet or NK as they are sometimes known are the Harrods of Denmark and in the 1950s and 60s commissioned a lot of stylish furniture designs including sofas and chairs by Kirsten Horlin-Holmquist. Paradiset is the Swedish name for this design of sofa and chair. There is a smaller version of the sofa as well as chairs in this range.
Condition
We have had it re-upholstered by our in-house upholsterer as the original cream fabric was badly worn. We’ve chosen a Camira Mainline Flax in a cream with blue/green fleck to the weave which looks wonderful on this stylish curvy sofa. It’s been re-upholstered to crib 5 standards which means to commercial UK standards which are higher than needed for domestic use . The beech legs have been cleaned and re-polished.
