Item Description
1960’s Dalescraft teak dining table with removable legs
Unlike most British Mid-Century dining tables the quality maker Dalescraft made many of their dining tables with removable legs which is great for moving them and for storing them . Their main competitors at the time only made tables with fixed legs apart from 1 by G Plan and another by White and Newton neither of which are as nice a quality and also rarely come up for sale . This design dates to the early 1960’s .
Malcolm David Walker an the company in the 1960’s and 70’s as well as designing all their pieces . This talented man was heavily influenced by Scandinavian pieces . Nice clean lines along with well made practical pieces was his forte . Here the angled edge of the table is a smart feature along with it’s practicality . The large extension leaf is stored under the top when not in use unlike many Danish tables where the leaves have to be stored in cupboards etc when not needed .
It seats 6 without the extension leaf and 8 comfortably with it in place . At a push you could squeeze another chai at each end as well .
167cms x 97.5cms un-extended , the large leaf adds 80.5cmstaking it to to 247.5cms . Table height 74cms
Condition
Cleaned and oiled with no obvious marks or scratches . As with all vintage furniture you have to expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely .
Notes
We’ve shown it with a set of 6 Moller style Dalescraft chairs in a couple of the photos as well as a set of Danish chairs designed by Kai Kristiansen .
