Fab small Swedish Art Deco birch desk

We like to buy really special pieces of all ages that are stylish and of their time even though we specialise in Mid-Century pieces. This lovely piece ticks all those boxes. It shouts Art Deco, it’s small, practical and beautifully made. It looks good from the back, front and sides and is a lovely colour with an interesting grain to the birch veneers.

We sourced it via a Swedish contact who normally can only bring us small pieces. It’s exceedingly heavy for it’s size as is a lot of older Swedish furniture. Birch was often used by Swedish makers as like pine it’s native to the country. Swedish Art Deco has a style of it’s own and often involved marquetry inlays, but here in it’s plainest form it’s reliant on the geometric shapes which are a feature of all pure Art Deco design.

Comes with 1 original key which can be used to lock the drawer and the cupboard.

125cms long, 73cms deep, 75.5cms high, 64cms from floor to underside

Condition
Fully cleaned and given an oiled finish rather than the high varnished one that it came with, which we think best suits the piece. No obvious marks or damage with some small veneer repairs. As with all vintage pieces you do have to expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely.
