Pair 1960’s Cirrus glass vases by Bertil Vallien for Boda Afors
A lovely small pair of vases with controlled bubble decoration in white opal and clear glass. Each is fully engraved for Boda Afors and B Vallien to the underside.
Bertil Vallien is probably the most important Swedish glass designers of his generation. He started at Afors in 1963 just before it merged with the larger Boda and Kosta in 1964. Eventually the company became known as Kosta Boda but not until 1976. His designs are now very sought after, particularly rarer designs like this one and the larger bowl which we also have.
Condition:
This will have been a difficult shape to blow accurately particularly with added complication of the controlled bubbles and white opal decoration. They have polished pontils as would be expected.
No chips or cracks. They’re about 11.25 cms in height and around 10cms in diameter at their widest.
