Ron Hitchens 1960’s terracotta tile panel
Ron Hitchens ( 1926-2019 ) produced numerous panels from small to monumental using terracotta , metal and other materials . Apparently no two terracotta tiles were ever the same so each is an unique miniature work of art in it’s own right . There is an excellent biography on www.ronhitchens.com as well as a shorter one by Antiques Roadshow expert Mark Hill which can also be found online .
Here we have a lovely panel from the 1960’s in it’s original teak frame with dark green painted textured mount which is typical of the framing of a number of his works you’ll find . It’s fully signed on the back .
With frame 57cms x 29cms . Tiles 28cms x 14cms
