Item Description
The Australian National Gallery, Canberra, "A Diver" from Paper Pools, offset lithographic exhibition framed poster. 1982. After David Hockney (1937-2026)
The large scale vintage exhibition poster still has a strong colour. The aluminium frame likely original after purchase. The frame shows multiple dents and scratches throughout. The poster itself is not flat and displays noticeable rippling, with marks visible to the right side and along the lower edge — please refer to the photographs. The piece would benefit from being re‑laid and the inner glass cleaned. This has not been viewed out of the frame.
Produced for David Hockney’s 1982 exhibition at the Australian National Gallery in Canberra, the design is based on A Diver, Paper Pool 17 (1978), originally created from 12 joined hand‑coloured pressed paper‑pulp sheets. The Paper Pools series was published by Petersburg Press, London.
This is the official gallery issued poster for the 1982 exhibition, it is not signed.
