Item Description
Bertil Vallien glass Janus sculpture by Boda
Bertil Vallien ( 1938- ) is Sweden’s most prolific and successful glass designer in the last half century. He started at Afors in 1963 just before it was taken over by Boda in 1964, before joining with Kosta to become Kosta Boda. This sculpture of the 2 headed Janus who is apparently looking to the past and the future at the same time was introduced in 1972.
Bertil Vallien designed everything from mass market pieces to amazing large unique sculptures which are sold for massive amounts. In the middle are sculptures like this one which don’t appear for sale very often. I remember him coming to speak at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland about 20 years ago where he gave an interesting and humorous talk about his life and work.
We can send this as a parcel wrapped box within box by Parcelforce to most UK mainland addresses for £25 post and packing. Other places including Highlands and Islands ask for a quote.
