Scarce Uniflex tall K Range chest by Peter Hayward
This lovely rare range by Uniflex is often wrongly described as by Gunther Hoffstead as he designed most of their 1960’s pieces but this is definitely by Peter Hayward who designed their late 1950’s pieces . Our time spent going through original copies of The Cabinet Maker came across an article written when the K Range was launched in 1964 where it’s described as by Hayward . We recently saw a part set described as beng teak by a well known auction house , but it’s actually walnut .
It can’t have been a great commercial success as pieces from the range don’t turn up for sale very often , and when they do it’s usually the dressing table and a low double chest . This is the first time we’ve had this tall chest and we couldn’t find another shown online .
Condition
In good vintage condition when we bought it , so it only needed a light clean and oil . There are no obvious marks or scratches but as with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look closely .
